My Teaching Career (in dot points)

Art comes in many forms but drawing and painting, music, photography and making things in wood, metal (and whatever else) have been the constant preoccupations in my life. (See also Exhibitions)

• After completing my primary and secondary school education, I studied a comprehensive range of arts, crafts and education subjects. I graduated to became a secondary school teacher with the qualification B.Ed (Art/Craft): Melbourne State College 1975-78

• During those initial tertiary studies, I also indulged my other compulsive interests in language through Creative Writing and Fine Arts History subjects. My academic major was Asian Art and Culture.

• Being a bit "driven" by those 'interests', in my after-school hours I went on to complete a Bachelor of Art with subjects including Literature and Cultural Anthropology (B.A.: Deakin University 1984-88).

• In those same after-work hours I also studied Architectural Drafting and, later, Computer Aided Drafting subjects (Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE).

• Still driven, again in my after-school hours, I completed a third degree qualification: Bachelor of Education (Languages Other Than English) La Trobe University, Bendigo 1994-97 to teach Indonesian.

• After thirty five years in the classroom, I retired.

• Then I worked as a visiting lecturer and on-line assessor at the local university (La Trobe, Bendigo).

From 2009, I made a number of trips to Timor Leste as a volunteer builder/teacher. See Videos/Music 1 for a film of my last trip (and some others) before Covid stopped travel...

I remained involved in Education as a Casual Relief Teacher (Substitute Teacher) until 2023.
